Artist Statement

The markings and strokes in my works, are the language I need to express my sense of reality. The amount of white space used is crucial, in its relationship to the black markings. When I paint, I allow the brush or bamboo pen to take me along, as needed and desired. What follows is informed by my emotions and experiences. The spontaneous and unpredictable nature and behavior of ink constantly reminds me to keep focusing on the present moment. What I create today will continue to inform what the next pieces of work will be tomorrow, always with ongoing honesty and with continuing conceptual and formal clarification.
